In our push to become ever more environmentally friendly, this year we have taken the decision not to provide swim hats to competitors. We know from our feedback that the majority of competitors bin these after the race causing wastage. Swim hats MUST be worn in accordance to the British Triathlon race rules and so we urge everyone to bring their own hat or we will have a limited amount on sale on the day.

Another big move for Norwich Triathlon is that we will only issue one race number per competitor. Therefore, a race belt will be the easiest thing for competitors to wear as this can be used on both the bike and run. But if not you can pin the number to the top that you will wear on both the bike and run to ensure that your number is visible at all times.

Both will be available to purchase on the day if you do not have them. Entry prices are the same as 2019 so competitors who do need to purchase will not be out of pocket.

Here is how we are working towards an eco-friendly event:

2018    – started using compostable cups

2019    – stopped using single use plastics

For this year’s event:

  • No swim hats to be provided (many are thrown away after the event)
  • Single race number (Tyvek numbers are not easily recyclable, also saves safety pins)
  • Competitors can opt out of their race shirt (we will make a donation to Norfolk Wildlife Trust instead)
